Shares Drive Error Fix: Disconnecting and Remapping
If when attempting to access the shares drive a user receives the following error message:
(NOTE, "\Financial Aid" is just the example folder used for this message, this solution can be used for any folder).
Please first disconnect the network folder:
- Open File Explorer, then navigate to This PC.
- Right-click on the drive you wish to unmap. A dialog menu will appear, where you can choose Disconnect.
OR,
- Open File Explorer, then navigate to This PC.
- Click on the drive you wish to unmap.
- On the Computer tab, click on the dropdown arrow next to Map network drive.
- Select Disconnect network drive.
Then, remap the network folder:
- Open File Explorer, then navigate to This PC and select More ... >
- Choose Map network drive.
- In the drive list select a drive letter (any letter will do).
- In the Folder box, type the path of the folder or computer, or select Browse to find the folder or computer. To connect every time you sign in to your OC, select Reconnect at sign-in.
- Select Finish.
