Teams – Notifications and Tagging
This article provides information about tagging and notifications in Teams. Tagging is a great way to reduce clutter and help with prioritization. We recommend tagging for all important posts that need to be seen.
Team
- If you "@" a team name (such as "Classroom and Event Support"), you will notify every member of the team.
-
Please refrain from doing this unless you have a team-wide post.
Channel
- If you "@" a channel, you will notify every member that has not turned off channel notifications for that channel. By default, you will receive notifications for all channels.
-
If you want to stop receiving channel notifications for a channel, it is your individual responsibility to TURN OFF Channel Mentions under "Channel Notification Settings."
Tags
- All team members control tags assigned to them. Tags function like group membership and can be used in any channel in the team. Using a tag is a great way to notify a unique group.
-
Team owners can create and assign tags. Tags may function like a channel notification, but team owners can help control tag settings for members.
