Windows Deployment Guide Unboxing Your new GCTS PC will come in the original box from the manufacturer. You will be given a grey/blue asset tag sticker and notified by IT of the name of your new computer. Please have this information handy. Please remove your new PC from the box and remove the packaging. At this point, please take your Asset Tag sticker and place it on the top of the laptop, in the upper left corner, opposite the model name. Inside the box, you will also find your power cord and power brick. Please remove these from the box. It is safest at this point to plug your machine into power, just to be certain it has enough power to continue with the next sections. Setup Open your new PC. You will be greeted by setup screens which will help you get your machine ready to use. This section will explain each screen you will see and need to progress through. Country or Region: Please choose United States by clicking Yes Keyboard: Please choose US layout by clicking Yes. You may also add other keyboard layouts for other languages you may need to type in at this time by clicking Add Layout. In none need to be added, click Skip. Wi-Fi/Internet: This step is critical for setting up your PC. If not connected to Ethernet (wired internet), please select your Wi-Fi and input the password. Once connected, please click Next. If on a GCTS campus, please select GC-Staff and input the staff password: thinkengageliveYour computer will quickly check the connection to the internet. Set Things Up for your work or school: Please input your GCTS email address (ex. jdoe@gordonconwell.edu) here. If you are a new employee this information was emailed to you at your personal email address from tech@gordonconwell.edu. You may also need your phone to setup MFA at this time if you have not done so yet.Next, input your password and MFA credentials when requested. You may at this point be prompted to setup a new password if you are a new employee, as well as to setup multi-factor authentication (MFA). Please see the email sent to you with your login info for more information. Your computer will now begin setting itself up. This process will take some time (typically 15-20 minutes), please feel free to grab a cup of coffee or tea while it is setting up, as it is installing required software, security settings, and other tasks. Please note that your computer will restart during this process.The installed software includes: GCTS required security software, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote, Teams), Foxit PDF Reader (used to read and sign PDF), RingCentral (GCTS' phone system application), Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Print Deploy (used to install GCTS printers), Forticlient VPN (used to access shares drives from off campus), Zoom, and GCTS remote access software (used by IT to remote into your computer if needed). You will now be asked to login to your account with your GCTS username and password. Your computer will now setup your account. This will take a while, possibly 20 minutes or longer, so please be patient. See below for more information on what is needed from you during this time.At the end of the "Connecting to your Organization's Network" you will be asked to sign in with your GCTS email address and password, as well as your MFA. Once this is completed, you will be asked if you would like to "Allow your organization to manage this device, or just this app only." Please choose Yes to allow GCTS to manage your computer fully. After this the last steps of account setup should proceed fairly quickly. Once they are complete your comptuer will restart and you will be able to log in. Once you have logged in, please contact GCTS IT so that we can make certain our remote software is working correctly, as well as that the setup of the computer is completed. During this call GCTS IT will rename your comptuer to match the asset tag, help install printers, as well as install any other necessary software and map shares drives if needed.
