How to print/copy/scan to email on a GCTS Konica Minolta printer which has the Papercut application installed
New printers purchased in 2025 beginning in Hamilton are installed with the Papercut embedded application. Papercut is our print tracking system, and it allows us also to print securly as well as to print to one printer and release it at the closest printer to your desk which has this capability. Read on for information on how to interact with these new features!
Logging In
- To begin, print like normal to the Konica GCTS Printers printer. This printer will allow you to "release" what you have printed to it from any one of the new printers, so that documents you print from you computer don't actually print at the printer until you are physically there. If you need to print on a specific type of paper, you may not want to print to this printer directly, but IT will be working with the users of these printers to make a standard paper type/tray setting for all 4 units, so that you can feel comfortable to print to whatever printer you need.
- Upon going to any of the new printers in Hamilton, you will be be met with a Papercut login screen. This screen can't be bypassed, and exists so you can be as secure in your printing as possible.
- To access your stored print jobs, you will need to know your ID. For Staff and Faculty this is your Employee ID, found in ADP (see below for information on how to find it), which is a 6 digit number that begins with 50. For student workers and students, this is your SONIS Student ID number. If you are not able to find this number, please contact Registration who will verify your identity and make help you regain access to your student ID number.
- To access your Employee ID number, navigate to ADP. Under Myself click on Profile. Here you will find your Position ID. The last 6 digits (after YQE, and beginning with 50) are your Employee ID number. Currently this number is just used for printing/scanning, but in the future it may be used for more systems.
- Once you input your ID number, click Log in.
- Once logged in you will be met with the screen below, which has three options, depending on what you need to do. Please note, this screen will logout after 30 seconds of inactivity, to protect your privacy/security.
Printing/Print Release
A new change with these new pritners is that all print jobs will default to print in black and white only. To change your print job to print in color you will need to specifically choose this at your comptuer before printing, just as you might any other change needed in Printing Preferences. This change will help the seminary be good stewards of our finances, as we are now charged per page that we print, with color pages (as well as color toner in general) being about 10x more per page than black and white.
- To release your printed jobs, please click Print Release. You will see a screen which lists all jobs that you can release, along with information about them. If you don't need to change anything about what you are printing (such as number of copies, color to black and white, or 1-sided to 2-sided can simply click the "Print all" button in the top right corner.
- To change settings on what you are printing, please click the arrow next to the job you wish to change. Here you can update the number of copies to print, change from Color to Black and White, and force single or double sided printing. You can also delete a print job if it is no longer needed. Please note: if you are a student at Hamilton, changing these options may change what your account is charged for the print, this information will be noted at the bottom right corner.
Copying
- Copying is currently not being charged for by GCTS, but it still uses the same Papercut system for tracking.
- Once you have logged in as above, please choose Device Functions. The screen which appears should be familar if you have used a Konica Minolta printer at GCTS before.
- To copy, please choose the Copy option.
- You will now see the normal Konica Minolta copy screen, please copy as you would normally do.
Scan to Email
- With the Papercut embedded application, scan to email has never been easier. Simply login to the Papercut app on the printer, and click Scan
- Your email address will automatically be filled in and you can easily change the subject and filename of the email.
- You can also change the settings of the scan itself. Please note, the higher the number in the DPI section, the larger your file will be.
- To send the scan to yourself, click the teal Start button. The email will come from scan@gordonconwell.edu like it has in the past!
